Dear Parents & Guardians:

The No Child Left Behind Legislation requires that schools that receive Title I funds to notify parents that they can request and receive specific information about a teacher’s and paraprofessional’s qualifications.

As a parent of a student at Highgate Elementary School, you have the right to know the professional qualifications of the classroom teachers (and paraprofessionals/instructional assistants’ qualifications) who instruct your child.  Federal law allows you to ask for certain information about your child’s classroom/core teachers, and requires us to give you this information in a timely manner if you ask for it.  Specifically, you have the right to ask for the following information about your child’s classroom teachers (and paraprofessionals/instructional assistants):

For the 2007-2008 School year The Dept. of Education Reports the following:

School Name Classes taught by NOT HQ Teachers/Total Classes Percentage of Core Academic classes taught by NOT HQ Teachers
Highgate Elementary School 0/29 0%

School Name # of Emergency credentialed teachers/Total teachers Percentage of teachers teaching with emergency credentials
Highgate Elementary School 0/31 0%

If you would like to receive any of this information, please contact Mrs. Young at the Highgate Elementary School at 868-4170.

Sincerely,

Madeline B. Young

Principal
