Dear Parents & Guardians:
The No Child Left Behind Legislation requires that schools that receive Title I funds to notify parents that they can request and receive specific information about a teacher’s and paraprofessional’s qualifications.
As a parent of a student at Highgate Elementary School, you have the right to know the professional qualifications of the classroom teachers (and paraprofessionals/instructional assistants’ qualifications) who instruct your child. Federal law allows you to ask for certain information about your child’s classroom/core teachers, and requires us to give you this information in a timely manner if you ask for it. Specifically, you have the right to ask for the following information about your child’s classroom teachers (and paraprofessionals/instructional assistants):
For the 2007-2008 School year The Dept. of Education Reports the following:
| School Name | Classes taught by NOT HQ Teachers/Total Classes | Percentage of Core Academic classes taught by NOT HQ Teachers |
| Highgate Elementary School | 0/29 | 0% |
| School Name | # of Emergency credentialed teachers/Total teachers | Percentage of teachers teaching with emergency credentials |
| Highgate Elementary School | 0/31 | 0% |
If you would like to receive any of this information, please contact Mrs. Young at the Highgate Elementary School at 868-4170.
Sincerely,
Madeline B. Young
Principal
